Trust and safety

Dubai job scams: 15 red flags before you pay or share documents

A risky Dubai job message rarely looks completely false. Many details can look normal. The danger often sits in one request: pay a personal account, share an OTP, move to a new number, or accept a PDF where the employer name does not match. This guide lists 15 warning signs, shows how to check email and written terms, and explains safer steps if you already sent data or money. It does not declare a scam and it does not accuse any named company. Use official MOHRE pages and Indian emigration channels yourself. This site cannot certify an offer or recover funds.

Warning signs for a fake Dubai job offer, including personal payments and OTP requests.

How a typical scheme looks

Many unsafe approaches follow a simple path. First you see an attractive warehouse or visa message. Then you are told to decide quickly. Then trust moves from a company name to one person. Then that person asks for money or sensitive data.

  1. Attractive offer: Dubai, visa, housing, a salary that sounds easy.
  2. Urgency: pay or send a passport copy today or the seat is gone.
  3. Transfer of trust: leave the official email and talk only on a personal chat.
  4. Request: money to a private account, an OTP, remote access, or extra family IDs.

This page does not teach how to hide a payment or bypass a government check. If someone asks you to skip MOHRE, ICP, or eMigrate, treat that request as a warning, not as a shortcut.

15 red flags

Each sign below is a risk indicator. None of them lets this website say that a scam is confirmed. For each sign: notice what happened, why it is risky, how to check, and a safer action.

Payments and costs

Not every rupee connected to migration is automatically unlawful in every place. This page does not give a legal ruling for every fee. It does tell you to separate a transparent, written, organisational payment from a private transfer that you cannot explain.

Question to askMore transparentLess transparent
Who receives the money?A named organisation on a written invoiceA private person or a new wallet
What is the money for?A described official or travel itemA vague processing or seat-booking fee
Can you wait one day?Yes, and they still write to youNo, the visa will vanish tonight
Is an OTP required?NeverYes, to confirm the payment

On the current warehouse vacancy described here, the employer arranges the employment visa. Accommodation and work transport are provided. Three daily meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) are included. Basic pay is advertised from AED 2,200 to AED 2,500 plus eligible overtime. A stranger who asks you to pay first so that a visa can be guaranteed is not describing that listing.

Documents and personal data

Some data is normal later. Some data is never a recruitment document. Read /guides/documents-required-dubai-job-from-india/ for stage-by-stage files. This page focuses on safety.

ItemMay be asked at a real later stageDo not send
Full name, phone, emailYes, on an application formDo not add bank passwords
Passport bio-page copyWhen a written visa stage names the channelNot into an unknown chat on day one
OTP, PIN, card numberNever as a job stepNever
Remote-access codeNeverNever
Medical imagesOnly through an authorised later processNot to a personal messenger

This site does not need your passport number on a public page. If a look-alike form asks for it together with an OTP, close it and open the real site yourself.

How to check email, domain and contacts

You do not need a technical investigation. You need a contact you can explain to your family.

  1. Read the full email address, not only the display name.
  2. See whether the part after @ looks like the organisation, or like a free mailbox that only copies the name.
  3. Search the legal employer name yourself. Use a page you found, not only the button inside the message.
  4. Compare the phone number with a published number if one exists.
  5. Keep the first email. If the person moves you to a personal chat and the story changes, you still have the original text.
  6. Do not install a remote-control app because a recruiter sent a download link.

How to check the offer and contract

Open the PDF and look for employer legal name, your name, job title, basic salary, hours, and location. Compare those fields with any later contract. Then use official MOHRE services yourself at https://eservices.mohre.gov.ae/ and https://www.mohre.gov.ae/. This website is not connected to MOHRE. A missing record is not automatic proof of a scam.

Walk through /guides/verify-uae-job-offer-mohre/ and mark fields in /tools/uae-employment-contract-checker/. If the current vacancy is your comparison point, you should see a path to AED 2,200 to AED 2,500 basic pay, 8 hours and 6 days, Dubai South / Jebel Ali, housing, transport, three daily meals, and an employer-arranged visa. Confirm the written offer keeps breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Overtime, if discussed, is eligible only when hours are worked and approved. Formula UAE_OT_2026_09 (1.25 ordinary, 1.50 night and rest day, basic divided by 30 divided by 8) is an illustration only.

Three illustrative scenarios

Read each story first and decide: pause, ask in writing, or continue checking. Then read the commentary. These are illustrative examples, not reports about real companies.

Illustrative example: Scenario B. You agreed to a warehouse helper role. The next PDF uses a different job title and a different basic salary. The chat says the change is a formality. Your action: ask for one written employer name, title, pay, hours, and worksite. Do not travel on a silent role change.

Illustrative example: Scenario C. You receive a written offer with employer name, title, AED basic pay, hours, and location. HR gives you time to read. Nobody asks for an OTP. You are told to check MOHRE yourself when that stage exists. Your action: continue the written process, compare fields, and keep files off unknown chats.

Do not confuse: Scenario C is not a certificate that a company is safe forever. It is a picture of a process you can verify. Scenario A is not a court finding. It is a pattern you can refuse.

If you already sent data or money

Act on security first. This page cannot promise a refund, a visa, or a police result. It can list immediate steps that reduce further harm.

  1. If you shared an OTP or password, change that password now from a device you control. Turn on extra login protection if your mail or bank offers it.
  2. Call your bank or wallet support using the number on the back of the card or the official app, not a number from the recruiter.
  3. Ask the bank about blocking the card or reversing a recent transfer. They will tell you what is possible. Do not expect this guide to guarantee a return.
  4. If a remote-control app was installed, uninstall it and review connected devices.
  5. Write a timeline: dates, amounts, account names, phone numbers, and file names you sent.
  6. Tell a trusted family member. Do not send a second payment to recover the first.
  7. Use official reporting routes in your location when you are ready. In India, start from official MEA information at https://www.mea.gov.in/ and keep eMigrate at https://emigrate.gov.in/ in view if the story used an overseas job. In the UAE labour context, use https://www.mohre.gov.ae/.
  8. Do not send another OTP to anyone who claims they can unlock a refund.

Quick check: Have you changed the password on the email that received the OTP? If not, do that before you write any more replies in the job chat.

A family verification checklist

You can copy this list to a relative who wants to help without taking over your phone.

What a normal recruitment process looks like

A calmer process is visible on paper. You can name the employer. You can read pay and hours. You can ask questions and still have a reply the next day. You are not told to hide the chat from your family.

The vacancy facts on this site, reviewed 4 September 2026, are a comparison point: AED 2,200 to AED 2,500 basic plus eligible overtime, 8 hours and 6 days, Dubai South / Jebel Ali, accommodation and transport, three daily meals included, visa by the employer. A message that contradicts those points is not automatically a crime, but it is a reason to verify in writing.

Use the risk checker

Mark the signs you saw in the Dubai job scam risk checker at /tools/dubai-job-scam-checker/. The result is a low, medium, or high set of indicators. It is not a legal finding and it will not say that a scam is confirmed. Then verify fields with /guides/verify-uae-job-offer-mohre/, /tools/mohre-job-offer-verification-checklist/, and /tools/uae-employment-contract-checker/.

Keep document safety in /guides/documents-required-dubai-job-from-india/ and visa stages in /guides/uae-work-visa-from-india/. Official sources for this review: MOHRE https://www.mohre.gov.ae/ and https://eservices.mohre.gov.ae/, ICP https://icp.gov.ae/, eMigrate https://emigrate.gov.in/, MEA https://www.mea.gov.in/. Indicative rate 1 AED about 22.90 INR on 4 September 2026.

Frequently asked questions

Is every recruitment fee a scam?

No. This page does not give a legal ruling on every fee in every country. The safer test is transparency: a named organisation, a written purpose, time to verify, and no OTP. A transfer to a personal account under time pressure is a reason to pause, not a reason to pay to test honesty.

Can scammers use a real company name?

Yes. A real name can be copied onto a PDF, a chat display, or a look-alike email. That is why you compare legal names, domains, and official MOHRE records when they exist, instead of trusting a logo. This website does not accuse any named company.

Is it safe to share a passport copy?

Share a copy only when a written stage names the channel, and send only the page that was asked for. Do not put a passport number on a public page. Do not send a copy together with an OTP. See /guides/documents-required-dubai-job-from-india/.

How can I check a recruiter's email?

Read the full address, not only the display name. See whether the domain matches the organisation. Search a published contact yourself and write there. Keep the first email if the conversation moves to a personal chat. Do not install remote-control software from a recruitment message.

What should I do if I already sent an OTP?

Treat it as an account emergency. Change the password on that email or bank from a device you control, call the official bank number, and do not share another OTP. Tell a trusted person. This guide cannot promise a refund. Do not pay a helper who says they can unlock the money.

Ready to take a calm next step?

If the role still looks suitable, you can submit an application. A written offer, not this guide, confirms pay and benefits.
